About

What is BrainWise?

BrainWise uses a proven, research-based cognitive development program called Equipping Minds, developed by Dr. Carol Brown. It is a holistic and progressive system of physical, visual, auditory, vestibular, and cognitive exercises meant to develop and strengthen weak neural pathways which may inhibit the ability to learn.

Who might this program help?

Anyone with learning challenges including dyslexia, ADHD, language processing disorder, conduct disorder, autism spectrum disorder, developmental delay, down syndrome, traumatic brain injury, and memory decline.

What is the Equipping Minds Cognitive Development program?

The Equipping Minds Program improves processing speed, and motor skills, and it's been shown to be effective with some clients who struggle with ADHD, anxiety, and depression. THE EM cognitive development exercises set aside academic content to target cognitive functions. Learners participate in interactive games and paper-and-marker activities which are organized in a progressively challenging manner. A trained mediator encourages the learner to think aloud and verbalize what they are processing. While the model of mediation is the same for all learners, individualization will occur based upon the learner’s progression.

IQ measures what we know, not what we can know.

What do the cognitive therapy exercises do?

The exercises are designed to create, strengthen, and connect neuro-pathways and underdeveloped cognitive learning skills such as auditory and visual processing, working and long-term memory, comprehension, attention, logic and reasoning abilities which are fundamental to a person’s ability to receive, process, retain, and apply information.

This cognitive therapy program has been demonstrated to strengthens these abilities, which impact job performance, academics, relationships, communication and life skills!
